1100-750 B.C. Here comes the story of the development of the sword in the Late Urnfield period.

 

The Bronze Age Sword Series includes six models from this stage.

ILLERTISSEN

(Illertissen, Germany, c. 1200 -1000 B.C.)

Metal hilted sword type Dreiwulst. Tanged blade with ridged cross-section and ricasso, blade and hilt cast as separate pieces, bronze. Pommel with hole for wrist strap. Total lenght c. 68cm (the image is a preliminary model-image, the actual sword might differ in finish and minor details). Replica of original.

HUNGARY

(Unkn. provenance, Hungary, c.1100-1000 B.C.

Metal hilted sword type Schalenknauf. Tanged blade with ridged cross-section and ricasso, blade and hilt cast as separate pieces, bronze. Pommel with hole for wrist strap. Total lenght c. 65 cm (the image is a preliminary model-image, the actual sword might differ in finish and minor details). Replica of original.

HEMIGKOFEN

Hemigkofen, Germany,c. 1150-1000 B.C)

BAD SCHUSSENRIED

(Bad Schussenried, Germany, c. 800-700 B.C.)

Metal hilted Antenna sword type Corcelettes. Tanged blade with separate hollow cast metal hilt.Replica of original. Alloy: 90% copper, 10% tin. Cold hammered edge. Total length 67 cm. Weight: c. 890 grams. (click image for further information)

 

PREINERSDORF

(Preinersdorf, Germany, c. 1000-750 B.C.)

Metal hilted sword type Auvernier. Bronze hilt with bone/horn inlay, inlays secured with rivets with protruding washers. Replica of original. Alloy: 90% copper, 10% tin. Cold hammered edge. Total length 64 cm.

ULSTEIN

(Ulstein, Norway, c. 900-700 B.C.)

Tanged sword type Hindenburg-Lüderitz/Nordic BA V. Replica of original. Alloy: 90% copper, 10% tin. Cold hammered edge.
